Guwahati: Hindu Assamese community in the state are facing atrocities from Bangladeshi origin Muslims. Replying to allegations levelled by opposition that Muslims are being targeted by BJP government Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said we are only facing atrocities not the Bangladeshi origin Muslims. Who are doing Love Jihad, Land Jihad, who are encroaching forest and government lands, only by the Bangladeshi Muslims. So it is we who should complain, not them. I have personally visited the eviction site Uriamghat where one Muslim family encroached upto 400 bighas of forest land. In Lakhimpur these people encroached a huge VGR land and set up commercial fisheries there. How can the government allow someone to encroach government land and start commercial activity there?, CM Sarma questioned.

Indigenous people in districts like Baksa are waiting for allotment of a piece of government land and one Bangladeshi Muslim family has encroached 300 bighas of forest land. Now tell me who should actually cry, the encroaches or the endless indigenous people?, he added. He also mentioned that large scale eviction will be soon conducted in forest land Lakhimpur and Guwahati. The eviction can’t be completed in 3 months or 1 year. It needs a minimum 5 years of continuous effort to clear all the encroached land, he added.

Meanwhile various organisations in upper Assam districts of Sibasagar, Dibrugarh, Jorhat have started drives to make the region Bangladeshi Muslim free. Bir Lachit Sena, Axomiya Yuva Manch etc on August 4, conducted searches in various sensitive areas of Sibasagar districts. Hundreds of Bangladeshi origin Muslim men and women were sent back to their home mainly in districts like Dhubri, Barpeta, Morigaon and Nagaon etc.

Meanwhile Miya Chtra Parishad has raised their demand for an autonomous council for the Miya. In a viral video a leader of the student organisation demanded a separate Miyaland in Assam citing the latest evictions by the government as a reason. The man was threatening a series of protests in Delhi and Dispur with 1 crore 40 Lakhs Miya for the same demand.

Dismissing the audacity of the Bangladeshi origin Muslims migrants, Sarupothar college student union lodged an FIR against the Miya leader and demanded immediate arrest of him for threatening the Assamese people.
