Ayodhya: Ticketing facility now at Ram Mandir premises; Indian Railways brings seamless travel experience to pilgrims

In a significant move aimed at enhancing pilgrim services, Indian Railways is set to launch a dedicated ticketing and information facility at the entrance of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. This new centre will allow devotees to access real-time train information and book tickets without having to leave the temple premises.

Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Sunil Kumar Verma and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Kuldeep Tiwari recently held discussions with Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust General Secretary Champat Rai and other Mandir officials to finalise the logistics. The facility is expected to be established near the existing passenger service centre within the temple complex.

This initiative mirrors a similar facility operated by Indian Railways near the Tirupati Balaji Mandir in South India, and will be the first of its kind in the Northern Railway zone. The proposed centre is part of a broader strategy by the government to improve connectivity and infrastructure in Ayodhya, which has witnessed a surge in footfall since the Mandir’s inauguration.

Former Member of Parliament Lallu Singh had earlier proposed the establishment of such a centre to the Railway Board. With the increasing influx of devotees and the prominence of Ayodhya as a spiritual destination, the need for streamlined travel services has become more pressing.

Speaking about the initiative, the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager stated that a formal proposal has been submitted to the Mandir trust, and several potential locations within the temple premises have been inspected. Security considerations and smooth pilgrim movement are key factors in the final site selection.

The facility will be a major convenience for visitors, offering easy access to railway bookings, travel-related queries, and other passenger services right at the temple gate. This step aligns with Indian Railways’ broader mission of improving last-mile connectivity and ensuring a seamless travel experience for religious tourists.

As Ayodhya continues to evolve into a world-class pilgrimage city, initiatives like these underline the growing synergy between spiritual heritage and modern public services. Final approvals from the Mandir trust are awaited, after which the project is expected to move forward swiftly.
