Bihar: Ajay Yadav lynched by Islamist mob on Muharram

Yadav who was assaulted badly during the attack, succumb to his injuries. Two other persons have also sustained injuries in the assault and are currently being treated

Patna: In a tragic incident, a man watching Muharram procession was attacked by Islamists over an alleged old dispute in Bihar’s East Champaran district, leading to his demise.

The incident unfolded in Kankatti village of Mehasi where a group of people launched a fatal attack on Ajay Yadav while he was watching stunts at Muharram procession on Sunday evening.

As per details, Yadav who had gone to watch the procession was attacked by youths performing stunts. The attackers also launched attack on two of the relatives of Yadav who tried to intervene and save him.

Yadav who sustained grave injuries in the attack was later declared dead. Two others have also sustained injuries in the assault and are currently being treated.

According to News 18, clashes broke out between Hindus and Muslim groups during Muharram procession in Kothiya Panchayat, leaving two people gravely injured along Yadav who died after sustaining grave injuries in the attack.

The police have detained a few individuals in connection with the incident who are currently being interrogated. According to reports, Nijamuddin and others are accused of carrying out the attack over an old dispute. A dispute reportedly broke out between both the parties around a fortnight ago.

The situation at present is under control and deployment of adequate police personnel have been made in the village.

Meanwhile, clashes erupt during Muharram procession at separate places of Bihar, leaving many people injured. Reports of clashes between two community surfaced from Katihar town where internet services are suspended temporarily.

Separate incidents of violence also reported from Bhagalpur, Saran, Gopalganj, Samastipur and Darbhanga districts of Bihar.

The administration on the other hand have acted promptly and made adequate deployment of security personnel at affected places to prevent any further escalation of situation, while action is also being taken against rioters involved in the incidents.
