The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in New Delhi on June 25 expressed deep gratitude to the people of India for their support during what it called “military aggression” by Israel and the United States.

In a statement, the embassy thanked the “noble and freedom-loving people of India”, including citizens, political parties, MPs, NGOs, religious and spiritual leaders, academics, media, and social activists, for standing “firmly and vocally” with Iran.

Acknowledging what it described as a victory against the “Zionist regime and the United States,” the embassy said it appreciated the solidarity shown by various sections of Indian society in recent days, calling it a meaningful gesture of support for the Iranian nation.

The embassy acknowledged that the “messages of solidarity, moral support, public statements, and peace-focused gatherings” served as a powerful source of encouragement for the Iranian people during the recent military conflict.

“These expressions of support, through solidarity messages, public declarations, and participation in peace-driven initiatives—offered strong encouragement at a time when the Iranian people faced a brutal military assault by the occupying Zionist regime,” the statement read. “Such gestures reflect the awakened conscience of nations and their commitment to justice and the rule of international law.”

India Stood Against Violations of UN Charter and Humanitarian Principles: Iranian Embassy

Highlighting Iran’s stance, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in New Delhi said the country’s resistance went beyond defending its sovereignty — it was a stand against violations of the UN Charter and humanitarian principles.

“The Iranian people’s resilience in the face of blatant aggression was not just about protecting national dignity but also a symbol of defiance against grave breaches of international law,” the statement said. “The global solidarity shown was more than political — it affirmed universal values of justice, legality, and peace.”

The embassy reiterated Iran’s long-standing commitment to international law and its opposition to expansionist policies. “We believe the unity of nations is a strong shield against war, violence, and injustice.”
Expressing “deep appreciation” for the “genuine and invaluable support” from the people and institutions of India, the embassy said this solidarity — rooted in shared cultural and civilizational ties — would further the cause of peace and global justice. It concluded with: “Jai Iran — Jai Hind.”

Iran-Israel Conflict Background

A ceasefire brokered late Monday night by former US President Donald Trump came into effect following a fierce 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel. The war, which began on June 13, 2025, shocked the world with its intensity and rapid escalation, including direct US involvement.

Hundreds of missile strikes, cyberattacks, assassinations, and the destruction of Iranian nuclear infrastructure marked the conflict. It began when Israel launched strikes on Iran’s nuclear and military facilities, claiming it aimed to prevent Tehran from developing atomic weapons. Iran, however, has consistently maintained that its nuclear programme is purely peaceful.
