New Delhi: A political row has erupted in Bihar after a video of RJD chief Lalu Yadav birthday celebration gone vial on social media platforms, attracting sharp responses from leaders of NDA. In the viral video a person was seen standing with a portrait of Bhimrao Ambedkar near the feet of RJD Chief.

The development has stirred a political row in the poll bound state of Bihar with several leaders of the NDA training guns on the RJD chief over the viral video.

Sharing the video on X, BJP (IT) in-charge Amit Malviya said “Lalu Prasad Yadav who has been calling himself a pioneer of social justice for decades has grossly insulted Baba Saheb Ambedkar”.

Pointing out to the incident, the BJP leader further wrote “Lalu Yadav neither picked it (portrait) up, nor give it respect, nor even considered it necessary to touch it”.

“Those who call themselves the contractors of social justice want the votes of Dalit community, but do not miss the opportunity to insult their idol,” he added.

Meanwhile reacting to the incident, Union Minister and HAM Chief Jeetan Ram Manjhi on June 14 said “It’s an insult to the Dalit community as he (Ambedkar) is god to us”.

Echoing Manjhi’s view, former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Ravishankar Prasad on Saturday said “It is very unfortunate that on his birthday, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav kept the statue of Dr Ambedkar near his feet. Dr Ambedkar gives us the constitution, gave us our basic rights.”

“The people of this nation especially in Bihar and the Dalit community should take cognizance of this,” added the BJP stalwart. Meanwhile, the RJD on the other hand has alleged the BJP for often insulting Ambedkar.
