On May 30, a madrasa manager named Zubair in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, reportedly sexually assaulted a teacher after calling her to the institution. Authorities have arrested the accused. This incident follows a similar report from Muzaffarnagar, where a cleric is accused of raping a 15-year-old student.
The victim arrived at the madrasa with her brother on May 30, a day when the institution was closed. Her brother left after dropping her off at the gate. Upon entering, she became suspicious when she realized no students were present. Zubair then reportedly emerged and escorted her to a classroom.
He claimed that he wanted to see her and then raped her. When the teacher’s condition deteriorated, he reportedly fled the scene. Meanwhile, her family grew concerned after she didn’t return home for a prolonged period. They went to the madrasa and discovered her unconscious with dishevelled clothing. They immediately took her to the hospital, where she regained consciousness that evening and recounted the entire incident.
The family later filed a complaint with the police, leading to the perpetrator’s arrest on June 1. According to Station Officer Pradeep Chaturvedi, the teacher’s medical examination has been completed, and the accused is currently being interrogated.
Minor Raped in Muzaffarnagar
A similar incident occurred on June 1 in Muzaffarnagar district. A minor girl was called to a madrasa under the pretext of receiving help with her questions and lessons. Maulvi Saddam Hussain then allegedly raped the student despite her screams. After the assault, she returned home and informed her family, who then took her to the police station to file a report.
Circle Officer (CO) Rupali Rao confirmed that the police have registered a case against the perpetrator under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. Hussain has been taken into custody at the Nai Mandi police station.
