Raipur: A Special Task Force (STF) of Durg police has arrested an illegal women Bangladeshi infiltrator from Bhilai, police said on May 15. The accused identified as Panna Biwi is a resident of Khulna district of Bangladesh who has been residing in Bhilai of Durg district with a fake identity for the past two years.

The police team has also seized a fake Bharatiya Aadhar Card from the possession of the accused women. She was arrested and booked under various sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Foreign Citizen Act 1946 and Indian Passport Act, 1920.

According to the officials, a STF was formed to identify and locate illegal migrants residing in Durg district. Upon receiving information about an illegal infiltrator residing at Nehru Nagar of Supela, the STF team raided the house of Suraj Shaw, a resident of the same locality and arrested Anjali Singh alias Kokilka Ghosh alias Panna Biwi.

The accused women initially tried to mislead the police by introducing herself as Anjali Singh, a resident of Nagloi, Delhi. The accused even provided a fake Aadhar card to ascertain her identity as Anjali Singh. The police however got suspicious about the documents provided by the women and interrogated her thoroughly leading to her confession about her Bangladeshi nationality.

According to the details, the women reportedly sneaked into Bharatiya territory through illegal means via South Pargana district of West Bengal around 8 year ago. Upon entering Bharat the accused women reached Sonagachhi area of Kolkata and resided there for five years, posing as Kokilka Ghosh.

She later shifted to Nagloi area of Delhi where she met with Pooja, an original resident of Bhilai. A year later Panna Biwi moved to Bhilai and was residing there with a fake identity of Kokilka Ghosh alias Anjali Singh before police nabbed her on Wednesday.

While staying at Bhilai, the accused reportedly went to meet her family members in Bangladesh and was in constant touch with them over phone. The authorities also verified the Aadhar Card provided by the women, which turn out to be fake.

The matter is being further probed by authorities and action is also being taken against the landlord who did not submitted the details of women residing at his place as a tenant.

Police in Chhattisgarh is carrying out a special drive to identify and locate all the illegal immigrant residing in the state. Earlier in a stern warning to the immigrants residing illegally in the state, Deputy CM Vijay Sharma said that structured action will be taken against them.

Replying to a query about the ongoing action being taken against the illegal immigrants residing in Chhattisgarh, Sharma said “More of that will be done. We will take further action against illegal migrants. Even stronger action will be taken. Structured action will be taken. I would like to tell those from outside who are living in Chhattisgarh that they should come before the Police and give a clarification. Otherwise, they can leave from here.”

Earlier In February, a joint team of police and Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) had arrested three suspected Bangladeshi nationals from Mumbai Airport. The accused were identified as Mohammad Ismail, Sheikh Akbar, and Sheikh Sajan, all brothers who were residing at Tajnagar of Tikarapara in Raipur.

Investigation into the case later revealed that the accused were planning to escape to Iraq to settle there permanently. The police had also seized fraudulent documents including a fake Bharatiya passport, Aadhar Card, Pan Card, Voter ID Card and visas of Iraq from the possession of the accused.
