Kashmir Police have arrested a schoolteacher accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl during a field trip. The accused, Ashraf (45), a teacher at MIM Higher Secondary School in Nadapuram, Kozhikode, was taken into custody by Pahalgam Police following a complaint that he assaulted the daughter of a colleague during a school excursion in Kashmir.

The case was originally registered at Perambra Police Station in 2023 and later transferred to Pahalgam Police Station. Although Ashraf had earlier secured bail from the High Court, the case resurfaced during a review of pending complaints at the Pahalgam station, initiated in the wake of a recent terror attack in the region.

Ashraf was arrested from Vadakara in Kerala by Pahalgam Police and is set to be produced before the Anantnag court in Kashmir. (Details of the case to follow)
