A sea of devotion swept through the sacred city of Ayodhya as thousands of devotees gathered at the revered Hanumangarhi Mandir to offer prayers on the auspicious occasion of ‘Bada Mangal’ — the first Tuesday of the month of Jyeshtha, as per the Hindu lunar calendar.

The Hanumangarhi Mandir, dedicated to Bhagwan Hanuman, holds immense religious significance and becomes the epicentre of spiritual fervour during this time of year. Bada Mangal is considered one of the holiest days to seek blessings from Bhagwan Hanuman, who is revered for his unwavering devotion, strength, and ability to ward off evil.

From the early hours of the morning, long queues of worshippers could be seen winding through the Mandir premises and nearby streets. Devotees, many of whom had travelled from distant towns and villages, brought offerings of flowers, vermilion, sweets, and sacred oil to present at the deity’s feet. The atmosphere reverberated with chants of “Jai Bajrang Bali” and the rhythmic sound of Mandir bells, creating a deeply spiritual ambience.

Local authorities and Mandir management had made extensive arrangements to manage the large influx of pilgrims, including security deployment, sanitation, drinking water facilities, and first-aid centres. Volunteers and local residents pitch in to provide free food and refreshments in the form of ‘Bhandaras’ (community meals), upholding the spirit of service and devotion associated with the day. Many devotees also observed fasts and performed special rituals as part of their religious observances.

Ayodhya, already basking in a renewed spiritual and infrastructural resurgence in recent years, once again demonstrated its enduring significance as a major centre of Hindu pilgrimage. The celebrations of Bada Mangal not only reflected deep-rooted faith but also the unity and devotion of people from all walks of life.
