Bhubaneswar: Priyadarshini Acharya, the widow of Prashant Satpathy, one of the 26 victims of the deadly Pahalgam terror attack in J&K on April 22, has strongly endorsed Operation Sindoor, India’s military response targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Describing the operation as a “true tribute” to the innocent lives lost, Acharya expressed her faith in the government’s actions and praised the Indian Army for upholding justice.
In a poignant statement to the media, Acharya remarked, “They took our loved ones on a Tuesday. We hit back on a Tuesday. You killed us by asking about our religion; we attacked you by showing ours.” She added, “My husband is gone. He won’t return, but I hope this action prevents other families from experiencing the same pain. Terrorism has no place in the world.”
Prashant Satpathy, a native of Balasore in Odisha, was fatally shot in the head while disembarking from a ropeway in Pahalgam, along with his wife and nine-year-old son, when unidentified terrorists opened fire.
Acharya welcomed the swift and strategic military response, stating, “I kept wondering when the government would respond. But deep down, I believed it would. Today, I am proud and grateful. This is not just a government for the rich; it is a government for ordinary people like me.”
She also expressed her concerns about Pakistan’s ongoing support for terrorism, saying, “The dog’s tail will never straighten, but when we strike back like this, it sends a strong message. They will think twice next time.”
Acharya urged the central government not to relent until terrorism is eradicated, calling on the public to support national efforts for safety and justice. “No one should feel afraid to travel in their own country. Every life matters.”
Operation Sindoor was launched in direct retaliation to the Pahalgam attack, which claimed 26 civilian lives. The Indian Army conducted targeted air and ground strikes on nine terrorist camps, including those run by Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, aiming to dismantle operational leadership and infrastructure across the border.

Reacting on social media, Majhi wrote, “In our culture, ‘sindoor’ is not just a tradition; it symbolizes sacrifice and determination. This same spirit resides in the hearts of our soldiers. India is no longer merely defending itself; it is resolutely moving forward to eliminate terrorism at its roots. We salute the bravery of our soldiers. We stand with our army. We believe in their victory. Jai Hind. Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”
Following the Indian Army’s strong retaliatory action in response to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan commended the courage and valor of the armed forces, describing their actions as a powerful message against terrorism.
In a post on social media, Minister Pradhan stated, “We had said we would reduce the terrorists to dust — and we did. The revenge for Pahalgam is complete. Salute to the bravery and courage of our Army. India has avenged the pain of its sisters through Operation Sindoor.”

He further emphasised that this resolute action reflects the strength and capability of a “new India” under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “This is a capable, strong, and empowered India marching forward under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Today’s India knows how to defend itself — and how to strike back decisively,” he wrote.
Reaffirming the government’s firm stance against terrorism, Pradhan said, “The nation has once again demonstrated its zero-tolerance policy against terrorism. Jai Hind — Jai Hind ki Sena.”
