In the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, and the growing threats posed by cross-border terrorism, cyberattacks, and hostile activities, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has called upon students and youth across the nation to actively participate in the ‘Civil Defence Mock Drill’ being conducted nationwide by the Ministry of Home Affairs on May 7, 2025.
Terming the exercise as a crucial step towards enhancing national preparedness, ABVP highlighted the importance of community involvement in safeguarding the country. The drill will include testing of air raid warning sirens, crash blackout exercises, safe evacuation rehearsals, and safety training for both youth and the general public. Strategic camouflage measures to protect vital installations like radar stations and power plants will also be demonstrated.
“The mock drill is not merely a formality. It is a vital initiative to strengthen our collective readiness in the face of emerging security threats,” ABVP said in a statement. The organisation underscored that national security is not the exclusive domain of the armed forces but a shared responsibility of every citizen—particularly the youth.
“Our schools, colleges, and universities must transform into hubs of awareness, alertness, and preparedness,” the statement added.
ABVP’s National General Secretary, Dr. Virendra Singh Solanki, said, “ABVP welcomes the ‘Civil Defence Mock Drill’. We call upon all students, teachers, administrative officers, and citizens to participate in this initiative with full dedication and enthusiasm and ensure their role in building a ‘Safe, Strong and Self-Reliant Bharat’.”
He further emphasised that preparedness is key to effectively responding to emergencies. “Today’s India is capable of giving a befitting response to terrorist incidents. Every citizen must remain aware of their role and responsibility in times of crisis.”
ABVP has appealed to all educational institutions to extend their full support to the nationwide drill and motivate students to treat the training with the seriousness it deserves, thereby contributing to a vigilant and resilient Bharat.
