Following the historic construction of the grand Shri Ram Mandir, Ayodhya is now set to become home to another monumental religious structure, a 101-feet-tall statue of Bhagwan Shiva. This new initiative, will be developed by the Shri Ram National Seva Trust, and it will stand at Mauni Baba Parikrama Marg, expanding Ayodhya’s spiritual significance and adding another attraction for devotees from around the globe.
On the sacred occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, a traditional Bhoomi Pujan (groundbreaking ceremony) was performed at the site with full Vedic rituals, signifying the beginning of construction. Once completed, this site will not just be a religious landmark, but a center for community service, free medical aid, and spiritual harmony. The 101-feet tall statue of Bhagwan Shiva, also called Bhagwan Bholenath or Mahadev, will be one of the tallest in the region. It is envisioned as a symbol of divine strength, devotion, and peace, offering visitors not just the sight of grandeur but a spiritually enriching experience.
Unlike many statues that serve purely symbolic or aesthetic purposes, this project aims to serve society. The site will become a hub for free services, integrating religious devotion with humanitarian values – a true tribute to the selfless nature of Lord Shiva himself.
The statue will be part of a 21,000 square feet spiritual campus which will be carefully planned to accommodate the needs of pilgrims and devotees who will visit. According to officials involved in the project, the following free-of-cost facilities will be available to everyone:
- 24×7 free food distribution (Anna Seva)
- Free healthcare and medical facilities
- Ambulance service for emergencies
- Clean, accessible accommodation for devotees
- Peaceful meditation zones
- Dedicated prayer halls and temple spaces
Key Highlights of the Project
In simple words, the upcoming spiritual complex in Ayodhya will feature a 101-feet tall statue Bhagwan Shiva (Mahadev), symbolising strength, devotion, and divine presence. This grand statue will be erected at Mauni Baba Parikrama Marg in Ayodhya, on a vast land area spread across 21,000 square feet. Alongside the Shiva statue, the complex will also include temples dedicated to Ram Darbar and Lord Ganesha, enriching the religious experience for devotees.
To ensure that visitors and pilgrims are well taken care of, the site will offer several free facilities including round-the-clock food services, medical aid, ambulance support, and accommodation. The foundation of this project was laid with a Bhoomi Pujan ceremony held on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, adhering to traditional Vedic rituals.
The project is being spearheaded by the Shri Ram National Seva Trust, which draws inspiration from similar service-based spiritual models currently operational in Vrindavan. The primary aim of this initiative is to promote spiritual service, cultural unity, and social welfare, creating a space where devotion meets community care. As construction begins, Ayodhya’s spiritual skyline is set to gain another majestic symbol in the form of Bhagwan Shiva’s towering statue.
Alongside the towering Shiva statue, the site will also include a Ram Darbar that will showcase the deities including Bhagwan Ram, Sita Mata, Lakshmanji and Hanumanji, as well as a temple which will be dedicated to Bhagwan Ganesha. This combination aims to represent the deep-rooted spiritual unity between Bhagwan Shiva and Bhagwan Ram, often described in Hindu scriptures as different manifestations of the same cosmic truth.
Mahant Rajkumar Das, an official from Ram Vallabha Kunj, emphasised this unity during the announcement. “This statue and the entire campus will symbolise the divine bond between Bhagwan Ram and Bhagwan Shiva. It will inspire generations to respect and follow the ideals of devotion, humility, and service,” he stated.
The Shri Ram National Seva Trust which is responsible for this project, is already known for running successful spiritual and service-oriented initiatives in Vrindavan which is another holy town of Uttar Pradesh. Their experience in managing pilgrim centers that offer free food, health services, and accommodations ensures that the Ayodhya project will follow a similar, sustainable model.
Officials confirmed that the land near Mauni Baba Ashram has already been secured, and the Bhoomi Pujan is considered as the formal start of construction. The Shri Ram National Seva Trust is planning to complete the project in a timely manner, possibly within the next 12 to 18 months, depending on weather and administrative clearances.
Ayodhya has long been revered as the birthplace of Bhagwan Ram, drawing millions of pilgrims each year. With the upcoming Mahadev’s statue, Ayodhya is poised to evolve into a comprehensive spiritual and service destination – a place where faith meets action.
This initiative is also expected to boost local tourism, create employment opportunities, and encourage volunteering and charitable work in the region. Religious scholars believe it could even become a model for other pilgrimage sites across India. Local residents and religious leaders have welcomed the announcement with immense enthusiasm.
