Admission decisions in Hindi Department of BHU must align with EWS reservation guidelines of GOI: ABVP

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has raised concerns regarding the admission process in the Hindi Department of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), asserting that the admission decisions must strictly adhere to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) reservation guidelines as laid down by the Government of India

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Banaras Hindu University (BHU) unit, has demanded transparency and integrity in the research admission process of the Hindi Department. The organisation has emphasised that decisions regarding EWS (Economically Weaker Section) reservations must strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the Government of India.

Currently, two candidates have raised objections regarding the validity of EWS certificates and transparency in the admission process. The matter is under review by the university’s University Admission Coordination Board (UACB) committee. ABVP believes that certain political groups and anti-social elements are attempting to influence this inquiry. A deliberate campaign of misinformation is being run against ABVP BHU Unit Secretary Bhaskaraditya Tripathi on social media, although the issue stems from departmental negligence and administrative lapses. ABVP firmly states that a university campus is a place of learning, not a ground for political or divisive activities. An impartial investigation into the irregularities in the Hindi Department should be conducted immediately, and action must be taken against those found guilty. ABVP has also urged the university administration to curb the activities of anti-academic and disruptive elements to maintain a safe and smooth academic environment on campus.

ABVP’s State Secretary Abhay Pratap Singh remarked that certain student organizations affiliated with political parties are trying to exploit the discrepancies in the admission process to pollute the academic atmosphere, which is deeply unfortunate. ABVP also demands that such unruly elements be barred from entering the campus.

ABVP BHU Unit President Prashant Rai stated that ABVP activists have consistently advocated for transparency in the research admission process from the very beginning. A prompt decision in accordance with the rules of the Government of India is necessary to secure the future of both candidates.
