Ram Darbar to grace sanctum on Akshaya Tritiya: Champat Rai unveils plans for Ayodhya Mandirs with 18 marble murtis

On the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, April 30, the Ram Darbar will be ceremoniously installed in the sanctum of the Ram Mandir’s first floor in Ayodhya. Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra's Champat Rai also announced the upcoming consecration of 18 marble idols and six new temples within the complex

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust’s General Secretary Champat Rai announced that the sacred murtis of the Ram Darbar will be ceremoniously enshrined in the garbha griha (sanctum sanctorum) on the first floor of the mandir on April 30, the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.

Addressing the media, Rai detailed the upcoming spiritual and architectural milestones in the Ram Mandir complex. He revealed that a three-day ‘Pran Pratishtha’ will follow in June, during which sacred rituals like Jalavas, Annavas, Aushadhivas, and Shayyavas will be performed in the presence of all trust members.

Rai also disclosed that six mandirs are being established within the Parkota (Mandir precinct) of the complex, dedicated to Surya, Bhagwati, Annapurna, Shivling, Ganpati, and Hanuman ji. In the Sheshavatar Mandir, an murti of Lakshman will be installed, while the Sapt Mandap section will house statues of Maharishi Valmiki, Vashishtha, Vishwamitra, Agastya Muni, Nishad Raj, Shabari, and Ahalya.

The murti of Tulsidas ji has already been installed at the Yatri Suvidha Kendra Pavilion, and other murtis are currently in their final stages of preparation. All 18 murtis are being sculpted from pristine white Makrana marble in Jaipur and will be transported to Ayodhya beginning April 15. Their decoration, attire, and ornamentation are also nearing completion. Construction giant L&T is overseeing the installation process.

Further enhancing the spiritual landscape of Ayodhya, Rai said that four grand entrance gates are under construction, to be named after revered Indian spiritual traditions — Ramanujacharya, Shankaracharya, Madhvacharya, and Ramanandacharya — symbolising the unity of Bharatiya dharmic traditions. These will include the Northern Gate, Crossing-11 Gate, Crossing-3 Gate, and the Main Entrance.

Rai also shared that statues of Purandar Das and a symbolic squirrel from Prayagraj — representing the legendary Ram Setu story — will be installed within the mandir premises. The shikhara (Mandir spire) has already been consecrated, and installation of other structural elements like the Bhuj Danda will proceed in phases.

Champat Rai affirmed that with the active supervision of the Yogi Adityanath government, the construction is progressing swiftly and the entire Ram Mandir complex is projected to be completed by October 2025. He described the project as not only a religious milestone but also a symbol of national unity and devotion, transforming Ayodhya into a global spiritual and cultural destination.
