The city of Bhagyanagar came alive with spiritual fervour and cultural pride on 6th April as thousands of devotees participated in the grand Sri Ram Navami Shobha Yatra, organised under the banner of Bhagyanagar Sri Rama Navami Utsav Samithi. The yatra, which has become a hallmark of Hindu celebration in the city, created history this year—breaking all records of the past 15 years.

Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma graced the Sitarama Kalyanotsavam at the iconic Seetarambagh temple and offered silk garments to Lord Rama, marking a ceremonial and divine start to the celebrations.

Meanwhile, another major programme unfolded with massive public participation under the leadership of Goshamahal MLA T. Raja Singh. He began his day by reciting the Hanuman Chalisa at the Hanuman temple in Dhoolpet Akashpuri and later flagged off the Shobha Yatra. His participation drew massive support from the crowd, symbolising a strong bond between spiritual faith and public leadership.

Nearly 250 tributary processions, including one led by BJP MLA T. Raja Singh, joined the main procession en route. The entire route was decorated with saffron flags and buntings, and at several places, large banners and hoardings displaying photographs of the local organisers and political leaders were put up.

Notably, the Sri Ram Navami Shobha Yatra passed through the old city of Hyderabad—a region known for its dense Muslim population—covering areas like Mangalhat, Puranapul, Jummerat Bazaar, Begum Bazaar Chatri, Siddiamber Bazaar, Gowliguda, and Sultan Bazaar before culminating in a meeting at Hanuman Vyamshala.

The rally witnessed an overwhelming turnout, with thousands of Hindu devotees and members of various organisations joining the yatra. Dressed in saffron and waving flags, the participants showcased their devotion and unity, chanting bhajans and slogans in praise of Lord Ram. The day-long celebration also featured cultural performances, bhajans, and prasad distribution at various points along the route.

On this occasion, MLA Raja Singh stated that the Owaisi brothers are lamenting that the Waqf Bill has been passed in Parliament. The Goshamahal BJP MLA mocked them, saying no one here is afraid of their cries. Raja Singh said that Owaisi believed the Ram Mandir construction wouldn’t happen. But seeing the sea of people on Sri Rama Navami, Owaisi has been shaken. He said this is not the India of the past after Independence, but today it is Modi’s Bharat. He reminded that earlier, devotees of Ram used to be patient and thoughtful.

Welcoming the passage of the Waqf Board Bill in Parliament, Raja Singh recalled that there have been instances where boards claiming land as Waqf property were put up without any documentation or registration.

He alleged that before the establishment of the Waqf Board, they had only 4,000 acres of land, but by misusing the Board, nearly 9.5 lakh acres were encroached upon. MLA Raja Singh clarified that the bill introduced by Prime Minister Modi is not anti-Muslim and in fact protects their genuine lands.

Following the successful Shobha Yatra, Raja Singh stated on X (formerly Twitter): “This year’s Shri Ram Navami Shobha Yatra has created a new history, breaking all records of the past 15 years. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all Ram devotees, mothers, sisters, and the entire Hindu community.”

#SriRamNavami pic.twitter.com/UpFi8A39aA

Union Minister for Home Affairs and BJP Telangana President G. Kishan Reddy also took part in the Sri Ram Navami Shobha Yatra held in Amberpet. The rally, which began from the GHMC Ground, passed through Fever Hospital X Road and Barkatpura before culminating at Kachiguda, witnessed an enthusiastic gathering of devotees.
