New Delhi: Almost a week after the Maoists via a press note reportedly approached the government for peace talks with riders, the Jan Sangharsh Samiti (Committee) has now penned a letter to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah requesting certain pre-conditions before the proposed talks.
The organisation in its letter to the Union Home Minister has underscored that though the offer for talks by the Maoist party is a welcome move, its equally important to apply certain pre-condition before the proposed talk given the violent history of the banned group.
“Maoist insurgents have carried out killing of thousands of innocent tribal and dalits. Its a welcome news that the Maoist party has now approached the government for dialogue. But there cannot be a talk with those who have come to kill the people, therefore its crucial to apply certain pre-conditions, reads the letter”.
The committee in the letter has proposed about five pre-conditions, including dissolvement of the Maoist group and its armed unit namely People’s Liberation Guerilla Army (PLGA).

The Sangharsh Samiti in the letter has further noted that the underground leaders of the CPI (Maoist) should come out in the open on the occasion of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar birth anniversary and render a public apology for the killings of tribals and Dalits.
“The Maoist leadership should publicly announce that they have shun the path of violence and will walk on the way of constitution. They should declare their faith in the constitution of Bharat and accept the constitutional setup alongside obliging it,” added the committee.
The letter further noted that the extremists should openly declare that they no more accept the Maoist’s ideology of ‘capturing political power with armed insurgency’ and ready to participate in the constitutional political procedure of the mainstream.
The committee also demanded that all the members of the proscribed group ranging from party’s general secretary to cadres active in the PLGA should surrender and submit the weapons, explosives in their possession before the security forces.
In the end, the letter emphasised that the Maoists should declare the names of their frontal outfits and its members and dissolve them all. The committee also underscored that since the Maoists has commenced the ongoing insurgency by waging war against Bharat, they should announce that their war against the country has come to an end.
Notably, the deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh recently announced that the Maoist group has allegedly offered peace talks with certain pre-conditions, such as halting the ongoing counter-insurgency operations in Bastar and more.
He noted that although the government is willing to engage in talks with anyone who believes in the democratic process and freedom of citizens, it is in no mood to entertain any riders.
