According to police sources, the woman had spent the day touring Hyderabad with a friend and other individuals, utilising the same vehicle. After dropping off the other passengers, the cab driver was en route to the airport with the woman when he allegedly diverted to an isolated location near Mamidipally. There, the driver allegedly stopped the vehicle and raped the woman before fleeing the scene.

The survivor was able to contact the police and promptly filed a complaint at the Pahadishareef police station. Authorities have registered a case of rape under Section 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Based on a complaint, a case was registered and the accused was taken into custody, a senior police official told. “The victim has been sent for medical examination,” police said.

BRS MLC K Kavitha criticised the Congress government, urging them to take more decisive action to ensure women’s safety in the state. In a post on ‘X’, Kavitha stated, “A rising number of crimes, attacks, and atrocities against women in Telangana are deeply concerning. The incidents near a temple in Nagarkurnool district and the assault on a German tourist in Hyderabad have raised serious alarms.”
