A relentless protest has gripped Kurada village in Kakinada district’s Karapa Mandal, Andhra Pradesh where local Hindus have entered the fifth day of a relay hunger strike against the illegal encroachment of land and unauthorised construction of a church by missionaries. Women have taken the lead in this resistance, stepping out in large numbers to demand action against the blatant violation of laws and the administration’s inaction.

Protesters allege that the illegal construction had been halted under the previous government after complaints were filed, but with a change in administration, the encroachment has resumed unchecked. Despite multiple fresh complaints, officials have turned a blind eye, forcing villagers to resort to an indefinite hunger strike.

“This is an open attack on Hindu land and religious identity,” said a protesting woman. “We are left with no choice but to sit on fast because the authorities refuse to act. Our voices are being ignored, and the law is being trampled upon.”

The protesters have issued a clarion call to the Hindu community and organisations across the country, urging them to stand in solidarity with their struggle. “Hindus must unite to protect our dharma. If we remain silent today, our temples and lands will continue to be encroached upon tomorrow,” they asserted.
