The recent divisive slogans raised by the General Secretary of the Left-ruled Students’ Union (JNUSU) at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) are contrary to the spirit of inclusivity and social harmony that persists inside the JNU campus. In protest against these incidents, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) JNU organised ‘JNU Ekaatmata Yatra’ in which more than 300 students participated, with the main objective of demonstrating their belief in the indigenous Sanatan culture, social harmony and nationalism. This Ekaatmata Yatra started from Ganga Dhaba of JNU and concluded at Barak Hostel.

Earlier also ABVP has organised various dialogues and cultural programmes across different parts of the country through ‘Rashtriya Ekta Yatra’ to encourage the spirit of national unity among students. ABVP-JNU has made it clear that they will strongly oppose any divisive politics and are committed to maintaining peace and unity for every student in the university campus.
On this occasion, ABVP-JNU President Rajeshwar Kant Dubey said, “The identity of JNU lies in its diversity and inclusiveness. We strongly oppose attempts to break this unity through divisive slogans. Through the ‘JNU Ekaatmata Yatra’ we want to give the message that every student of the university is united and will not accept any divisive ideology.”
While the ABVP JNU secretary, Shikha Swaraj said: “If the posts of the student union are used to create division in the society, then it is not only against the values of the university but also a threat to the unity of the country. This Ekta Yatra organized by ABVP is an important effort towards restoring the values of social harmony, cultural unity and nationalism in the university campus.”
