Purba Bardhaman: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat ji emphasised the diversity and “temperament” of Hindu society on Sunday, February 16 urging everyone to move forward by accepting such diversity, while speaking to the Sangh’s workers in West Bengal.

Addressing a public rally in the Purba Bardhaman district of West Bengal, the RSS Sarsanghchalak said, “What does the Sangh want to do? If this question has to be answered in one sentence, then the Sangh wants to unite the entire Hindu society. Why unite the Hindu society? Because Hindus are responsible for this country’s society.”

#WATCH | Purba Bardhaman, West Bengal: RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat says, "…The Sangh has to do only one thing – to unite the society, keep it united and create people who live their lives in this way, this is the work of the Sangh. The work of Sangh should be understood. Because… pic.twitter.com/HJ9Bv2oXHb

Talking about how Bharat (India) has its own particular nature, and referencing the formation of Pakistan as the group of people who did not agree with the country’s nature.

“India is not just a geography, that can change time to time but it considered India when there is a nature temperament to it, and India has that, the ones who thought they cannot live with that nature and temperament made their own country (Pakistan),” Bhagwat ji remarked.

Highlighting the nature of India being from an ancient time, and how it is even older than the formation of an independent India.

“The ones who did not go, it makes sense that they all want the temperament of India, and that temperament is not of today, nor is it made on August 15, 1947 (Indian Independence), it is even more ancient than that.” the RSS Sarsanghchalak said.

Referring to the historical invasions dating back to Alexander, Bhagwat ji stated that “a handful of barbarians, who were not superior in virtue, ruled over India, “attributing it to internal betrayal within society”.

RSS Sarsanghchalak said that it is pertinent that in order to change the society, it is important for the society to take part and bring about the change in the destiny of a nation.

He further said that Bharat was not created by the British and stated that the notion of India being disunited was instilled in people by them.

Dr Bhagwat ji further said, “Even Mahatma Gandhi had once said that it was the British who tried to teach us that they created India, and he had said that this was wrong. India has existed for centuries – diverse, yet united. All those who live in this country believe in this idea of unity in diversity. Today, if we talk about this, we are accused of talking about Hindutva.”

As the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) marks a century since its inception in 1925, Bhagwat ji addressed a gathering, reflecting on the organisation’s journey and purpose.

“Sangh is a big organisation spread across the country with about 70,000 shakhas,” Bhagwat said, acknowledging the sheer scale of the RSS.

“We are called the biggest organisation in the world. But why do we want to grow? Not for our own sake. Even if our name is not there, it does not matter, but if society is united, it will help the country and the world.” He reiterated that the core mission of the RSS is to bring people together.

“The only task for the RSS is to unite society,” he said and asked the people to get associated with the Sangh to get first hand experience about the Sangh and its working

“My appeal is to understand Sangh, come within its fold. There is no fee for this. No membership is required. You can come here at your will and leave if you do not like,” he added.

Bhagwat ji acknowledged that understanding the RSS takes time, as its only goal is uniting the entire “Hindu samaj” (Hindu society) to develop “atmiyata”, a close emotional bond.

Dr Bhagwat asked the individuals to get associated with the organisation directly rather than forming opinions from a distance.

“Mistakes and misunderstandings develop when people try to understand the organisation from a distance. Come in close contact with the Sangh, see it for yourself,” he said.

Bhagwat ji said that the world has finally realised that Hindus have always accepted the diversity of the world.
When the world’s history opened its eyes to this terrain, called the Indo-Iranian plate in Google, then they found a similar temperament across the region, which is that Hindus move forward by accepting the diversity of the world,” he said.

“Everyone has their own specific expertise, Hindus know that all the expertise is the invention of truth and it is one truth. Shrushti ke charachar jagat mein, jad chetan sab mein wohi ek hai jo nahi badalta, jo pehele bhi tha, aaj bhi hai, aur kal bhi rahega, woh shashwat hai (In nature’s pastures, in its roots and everything, there one which is unchanging, who was there before, is there today, and will be there tomorrow, that is eternal). Everything else keeps changing,” he added.

Preaching the idea of diversity as being inherent to Hindus and urging respect for others’ beliefs, he remarked, “Hindus know, because they understand that oneness is from diversity…that is why stand on your expertise with reverence and respect everyone’s expertise. Humans have to live like people, but not just that, that person is for family, family is for nation and nation is for humans. The whole life comes into nature. That is why friendship with nature is in that belief.” (With inputs from ANI)
