Purnea: Police on Thursday, February 13 booked Rashtraiya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA from Baisi along with five others in connection with assaulting a local Janata Dal (United) leader in Purnea district.
According to the report, local JD(U) leader Md Rehan Fazal was forcibly taken to RJD MLA Syed Rukunuddin’ place by the latter’s henchmen where he was beaten black and blue with iron rods till he fell unconscious.
Fazal, who is vice-president of Baisi JDU’s unit, has further accused the MLA and his brothers for forcing him to drink urine when he asked for water after regaining consciousness. The victim was later rescued and rushed to the hospital after his family members got to know about his confinement at MLA’s place.
Fazal was subsequently admitted to the government medical college hospital Purnea, where he is being treated for his injuries. He has reportedly sustained injuries in his hand and leg. According to the victim, the MLA was angered by his objection to an illegal capture of a land belonging to a member of Dalit community and other likewise issues voiced by him.
The RJD legislator however has denied the allegations against him, stating that it was an attempt to tarnish his image and everything will become clear in the police investigation.
Meanwhile, the police on the basis of complaint by the JDU worker lodged an FIR against the MLA and five others under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. The case is further being investigated by the authorities.
