Mahakumbh 2025: Mahamandaleshwar Sampurnanand maharaj highlights youth surge; Over 50 per cent participants under 30

Mahamandaleshwar Sampurnanand Maharaj highlights the unprecedented youth participation at Mahakumbh 2025, with over 50 per cent of attendees under 30, marking a spiritual awakening. As Mahakumbh 2025 nears its conclusion, with the Amrit Snan of Basant Panchami completed, the event has marked a significant milestone in the resurgence of Sanatan Dharma, especially among the youth.

Mahamandaleshwar Sampurnanand Maharaj, reflecting on the gathering, emphasised that more than 50 per cent of the participants were under the age of 30, showcasing a remarkable rise in youth participation at the largest gathering of Sanatan culture.

According to Maharaj, this revival is attributed to the concerted efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, whose initiatives have played a crucial role in bringing Sanatan culture back to the forefront. The massive youth turnout signals a cultural awakening, with young individuals flocking to the Mahakumbh either alone or with their families to deepen their understanding of spirituality and their cultural heritage.

Mahamandaleshwar Sampurnanand Maharaj also noted that many of the youth attendees actively engaged in spiritual activities such as Satsang, Kirtan, Ram Katha, Bhagwat discourses, and seeking guidance from religious leaders about their heritage, culture, and the essence of life. The trend of young people embracing real-life experiences over virtual ones has gained traction, with Sanatan and spirituality now among the most searched terms online.

This Mahakumbh has not only ignited a renewed connection with India’s spiritual roots but has also served as a platform for unity across all sections of society. As CM Yogi described it, this has been the “Kumbh of Unity,” where pilgrims from all backgrounds have come together, setting aside social divisions, to take part in the sacred ritual of bathing in the confluence of Maa Ganga, Maa Yamuna, and Maa Saraswati. In a powerful symbol of cultural solidarity, many participants were seen collecting sacred soil from the Sangam.

As Mahakumbh 2025 enters its final phase with the departure of the Akhadas on February 7, it stands as a testament to India’s spiritual renaissance, reinforcing the bond between youth, culture, and spirituality.
