Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked a solemn and spiritually significant visit to Prayagraj on December 13, performing rituals and prayers at the Sangam Nose, the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. This visit, aimed at seeking divine blessings for the successful organisation of the Maha Kumbh scheduled from January 13 to February 26, 2025, was steeped in cultural and spiritual fervor.

PM Modi arrived at the Sangam Nose aboard the Nishadraj Cruise, embarking from the floating jetty at Kila Ghat. Dressed in a white kurta-pajama, a blue jacket, and a maroon shawl, he appeared composed and reflective, taking a leisurely stroll on the cruise deck to observe the serene waves of the Yamuna and the scenic surroundings. The arrival was marked by a warm welcome from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel, setting a tone of devotion and reverence for the day’s events.

Before commencing the formal rituals, PM Modi sought the blessings of prominent saints, a gesture highlighting his deep respect for spiritual traditions. A saint presented him with a pearl garland as a token of blessings, symbolising purity and sanctity.

Under the guidance of the Tirth Purohits, the Prime Minister participated in the elaborate rituals at the Triveni Sangam. Amidst the resonant chanting of Vedic mantras, he performed the ‘aarti’ of the Triveni, offering Akshat (rice), Chandan (sandalwood paste), Roli (sacred red powder), flowers, and traditional clothing at the confluence. The rituals also included the Jalabhishek and Dudhbhishek, involving offerings of water and milk to the sacred waters. The Sangam Aarti, performed with great reverence, was a focal point of the ceremony, symbolizing prayers for global harmony and welfare.

A specially constructed pandal at the Sangam Nose served as the venue for the rituals. PM Modi, along with CM Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel, was seated amidst the pilgrim priests, embodying the essence of spiritual inclusiveness. The Prime Minister engaged warmly with the saints, offering his respects and receiving blessings.

The Prime Minister also participated in a photoshoot in the beautifully adorned courtyard at Sangam Nose, capturing the solemnity of the occasion. This moment, marked by the sacredness of the rituals and the grandeur of the surroundings, will remain etched as a memorable prelude to the Maha Kumbh 2025.

The event witnessed the presence of notable dignitaries, including Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, as well as Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh. Their presence underscored the collective commitment to ensuring the success of the Maha Kumbh, a global event attracting millions of pilgrims and visitors.
