The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and its youth wing, Bajrang Dal, have called for nationwide protests across India today and tomorrow to address the escalating atrocities against Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh. Citing alarming reports of attacks, persecution, desecration of temples, and arrests of revered saints, the VHP aims to mobilise support to ensure the safety of the Hindu community in the neighboring country and seek justice for the victims.

Vinod Bansal, the National Spokesperson of the VHP, took to social media platform X to announce the demonstrations. He stated, “The VHP and Bajrang Dal will hold protests all over India today and tomorrow on the issues of continuous attacks, persecution, destruction of mandir murtis, attacks on Hindu properties and life values, and unprovoked arrest of revered saints in Bangladesh by Islamic Jihadi fundamentalists.”

The organisation has appealed to all people of Indian origin and those committed to human values to actively participate in these protests at their local levels. In his call for solidarity, Bansal emphasised, “Hindus, we are all one!”

The Protest Agenda

The VHP and Bajrang Dal protests aim to:

  • Condemn atrocities in Bangladesh: Reports of targeted violence, desecration of temples, and persecution of Hindus by Islamic fundamentalist groups have drawn widespread concern.
  • Ensure minority safety: The protests aim to pressure authorities in both Bangladesh and India to take strong measures to protect Hindu and minority communities in the region.
  • Raise awareness: By uniting people across India, the VHP hopes to garner international attention to the plight of minorities in Bangladesh.

The nationwide protest will see participation from various sects and segments of Hindu society, as well as those who believe in upholding humanity and justice.

Bangladesh has witnessed a surge in communal violence, with minorities reportedly being targeted by extremist elements. Incidents of temple desecrations, property destruction, and physical attacks have sparked outrage among human rights activists. The VHP has expressed concerns that these acts are not isolated but are part of a broader pattern of systematic discrimination against minorities in the country.
