RAIPUR: In another case featuring torture of a Hindu woman after an interfaith marriage, a young woman from Balod district of Chhattisgarh has labelled serious charges of sexual exploitation and torture by a man identified as Zishan and his parents. The complaint was lodged days after she reportedly married to the accused at a temple.

According to the media reports, Zishan Khan, a resident of Arjunda threatened the victim to marry him and warned her with dire consequences if she refuses to comply with his demand of marriage.

He further threatened the victim to kill his family members if she doesn’t turn up for the marriage on November 6. Worried about the safety of the family members, the victim reportedly married Zishan on the given date at a temple without informing her family members and subsequently went with him at his place.

However, upon reaching Zishan’s place the girl was reportedly tortured by Zishan and his family members. The victim in her complaint lodged at the Arjunda police station has alleged that she was subjected to mental harassment and physical torture.

The girl was reportedly kept in a dark room and was thrashed by Zishan’s mother as well. She was even denied food for three days and attempts were made to strangulate her. The victim girl has further alleged sexual exploitation by Zishan’s friends and his father Abdul Rahim. However, the victim’s allegation has been denied by Zishan’s father.

Speaking with the media the victim girl said that the accused took her to his house on November 6 and started torturing her mentally and physically thereafter.

The girl was rescued only after the matter came in knowledge of a few local Hindu activists and members of the Dewangan society, a community the victim woman belongs to who subsequently approached the senior officials of the police to take immediate action in the case.

A case under section 127(3), 115 (2), 351(2) and other relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Samhita (BNS) has been filed at the Arjunda police station on the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim and the prime accused Zeeshan has been detained.
