RANCHI: In a significant development, Ranchi unit of Enforcement Directorate has arrested two Bangladeshi nationals after a major crackdown against illegal Bangladeshi infiltrator’s network.

Rony Mondal & Sameer Chowdhary both citizens of Bangladesh were arrested along with two Indian nationals Pintu Haldar and Pinku Basu Mukherjee informed the agency on Wednesday’s evening, November 13.

Both Pintu and Pinku were arrested a day after the arrest of Mondal and Chaudhary in Bangladeshi Infiltration case for facilitating illegal infiltration & human trafficking in India.

“They all have been arrested in Kolkata and ED is taking transit remand to bring all of them to Ranchi, Jharkhand. These arrests were made by ED after extensive searches conducted at 17 locations under PMLA, 2002, in Jharkhand and West Bengal, informed ED in a post on social media platform X.

“During the search operations, various incriminating items including fake Aadhaars, forged passports, illegal arms, immovable property documents, cash, jewellery, printing papers, printing machines, and blank proformas used for forging Aadhaar have been recovered,” it added.

ED, Ranchi has arrested two Bangladeshi nationals namely Rony Mondal & Sameer Chowdhary and two Indian nationals Pintu Haldar on 12/11/2024 and Pinki Basu Mukherjee on 13/11/2024 in Bangladeshi Infiltration case for facilitating illegal infiltration & human trafficking in India.…

The case was initially registered at Bariatu police station of Ranchi in connection with alleged Bangladeshi infiltration which was later taken over by the ED.

The arrest of the individuals alongside recovery made by the officials are expected to unveil critical information about the broader network suspected to be working on behalf of the infiltrators, facilitating cross border infiltration in Bharatiya territory.

Illegal infiltration of Bangladeshi nationals in Bharatiya territory has been a major concern for security agencies and police across multiple states of Bharat, raising speculations over a possible change in the demographics of the regions marred by infiltration.

Reports suggests that upon their arrival in Bharat, the infiltrators are allegedly provided with various bogus government documents by their facilitators who further enrol them in voter lists, enabling them to vote in elections.

A number of Bhartiya states adjacent to the Bangladesh border has been grappling with the continuous infiltration of Bangladeshi for years.

It is being alleged that upon infiltrating in bordering Bhartiya states illegally, the infiltrators either tends to settle in the bordering areas or further move to other states with the help of individuals/groups who provide them with essential documentation to settle down permanently.
