PATNA: A major controversy erupted in Bihar’s Begusarai district, after one of the school teacher allegedly made highly objectionable remarks against lord Hanuman, triggering an outrage among the guardians of students who gathered at the school premise on Wednesday, October 9 and protested against the comments made by the said teacher.

The incident pertains to Harpur-Kadrabad government school of Bachhwara block of Begusarai district, where a government school teacher identified as Ziauddin who teaches general knowledge and grammar to the students of grade 7, said that “lord Hanuman was a Muslim by caste and he had offered namaz”. He further remarked that Bhagwan Ram had himself asked Hanuman Ji to offer namaz. The incident occurred on Tuesday, sparking anger among the locals.

The remarks made by the teacher soon triggered an outrage, after the students informed their parents/guardians about the derogatory remarks made. Learning about the incident, the guardians along with local public representatives reached the school premises and protested against the said teacher Ziauddin, forcing him to render an apology for the objectionable comments.

In a video pertaining to the incident, the guardians could be seen confronting the accused teacher for making objectionable comments against the Hindu gods. Upon asking about the teacher’s comment, the student of grade 7 could also be seen testifying the incident, prompting the local to demand his immediate suspension.

Attempt to disrupt communal harmony

Meanwhile reacting sharply to the incident, Union Minister for Textiles and local MP, Giriraj Singh while terming the incident a conspiracy to disrupt the social fabric, made an appeal to the Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar to take immediate action against Ziauddin.

“In my constituency, the way a teacher identified as Ziauddin was teaching the students of grade 7 that Hanuman Ji was a Muslim and he used to offer namaz as informed by the students, I feel that this is a conspiracy and I would like to request the Chief Minister to take immediate action against such teacher. If such teacher remains, they could spread enmity in society and the society does not believe in such teachers anymore so as the Hindu community,” said the Union Minister.

जियाउद्दीन ने इसे स्वीकारा और मुस्लिम छात्राओं समेत अन्य ने पुष्टि की।
