Tamilnadu: Coimbatore to host third edition of Western Ghats Lit Fest 2024 on October 19-20

The Western Ghats Lit Fest, hosted by The Verandah Club, returns for its third edition on October 19th and 20th, 2024, promising an enriching experience steeped in cultural dialogue and intellectual exploration.

This year, the festival, to be held in Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, is set to be more expansive, featuring over 27 speakers from Bharat and abroad. Attendees can look forward to an array of panel discussions, keynote addresses, book launches, and cultural performances.

The event is set to host dedicated sessions that will delve into critical themes such as Defense, Indian Knowledge Systems, Yoga, and Sanskrit, to showcasing the rich tapestry of Bharatiya thought.

This premier literary event in South India, curated by Shefali Vaidya, director of Verandah Club, aims to foster an understanding of the Bharatiya perspective in a rapidly globalizing world.

Launched in 2022 amid the uncertainties of the COVID-19 pandemic, the inaugural edition set the stage with 16 speakers, establishing a vibrant platform for literary expression. The festival quickly gained traction, with the 2023 edition expanding to 24 speakers and attracting over 1,000 attendees in Coimbatore, culminating in the launch of 13 new books.

This trajectory of growth has positioned the Western Ghats Lit Fest as a vital hub for cultural and literary engagement.

Speaking with the Organiser Weekly, Jaganathan, a founding member of the Western Ghats Lit Fest, said, “As the world grapples with pressing global issues, the Western Ghats Lit Fest seeks to reassert the importance of Bharatiya cultural heritage and wisdom. By bringing together prominent authors, thinkers, and cultural figures, the festival aims to facilitate a dialogue that resonates with contemporary challenges while celebrating the enduring relevance of Bharatiya philosophies.”

The event will also see the launch of over 10 new books, providing a platform for both established and emerging authors. With support from over 10 media partners, including Dina Malar, The Organiser, and Swarajya, the festival is poised to reach a broad audience, ensuring extensive coverage of this literary celebration.

Team Verandah – Chairman Prof P Kanagasabapathi, Director Shefali Vaidya, Chief Mentor Sundar Ramachandran, Mentor and Advisor Ramachandra Prasad, Founder Jagannathan, Director N Saravana Kumar and many more well-wishers have meticulously planned the event to ensure a captivating and intellectually stimulating experience.

Amid a world shaped by external narratives, the Western Ghats Lit Fest 2024 inviting participants to connect with Bharatiya culture, knowledge, and philosophy.
