AAP will play Marlena and son of soil factor in Haryana

Atishi Marlena's appointment as Chief Minister of Delhi is seen as a masterstroke by Kejriwal, who is looking to capitalize on his party's popularity in the state. The decision is seen as a calculated move to take a strong stance in the upcoming Haryana Assembly election, which is expected to be a major test for the Congress party

Atishi Marlena becoming Chief Minister of National Capital Territory of Delhi is a big political step for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). This step of Arvind Kejriwal is well calculated. By making Atishi as the CM of NCT of Delhi, Kejriwal dealt a big political blow to the Congress party prospects in the ensuing Haryana Assembly election. The Congress party has high expectations in Haryana and overconfidence, the Congress party even did not bother to consider allying with the AAP in Haryana.

In the just concluded Lok Sabha poll the Congress party performed more than its expectation in Haryana and won five Lok Sabha seats by contesting on 9 LS seats. The AAP was in alliance with the Congress party and contested one seat of Kurushetra. In the Lok Sabha election the Congress party established lead on 42 ACs while the AAP on 4 ACs.

Now it’s a tough task for the Congress party to keep its vote share intact as the AAP is going to contest Haryana Assembly election with full of its strength. Arvind Kejriwal is no longer in jail and he will campaign vigorously throughout the State to solicit support for the party. Kejriwal will play his son of the soil card in Haryana.

The AAP will solicit women voters’ due to Atishi Marlena factor. The AAP will also show to the women in Haryana that the party will consider to project women as the Chief Minister in future. In Haryana there is no record of any women CM. Till date there are 11 CMs in Haryana but none of them was women.

There are nearly two dozen seats in Haryana which adjoin either NCT of Delhi or Punjab. In both States the AAP is running the government with a majority much more than required. This factor will be played as a domino effect for the AAP in Haryana. The cadres from both these States and the UT will solicit votes in their neighboring areas.

The AAP was not so vocal for the Haryana Assembly election in the pre-election phase as it was expectating seat alliance with the Congress party. Now since Kejriwal is leading them in Haryana Assembly election so the cadres of AAP get new enthusiasm.

The AAP learnt from its experiments that it requires two elections to come to power in any State as it happened in UT of Delhi and in Punjab. Now the next target of the AAP is to unseat the Congress party from States of Gujarat and Haryana.
