The 2024 Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at Khairatabad Ganesh Pandal in Bhagyanagar reached new heights with a memorable event that captured the city’s festive spirit. On 10th September, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) added to the grandeur by organizing its iconic Band Ghosh (musical band) performance at the towering 70-foot-tall Khairatabad Ganesh idol, renowned for being one of the largest and most revered in the country.
A total of 75 Swayamsevaks took part in this Ghosh performance. The event progressed wonderfully from start to finish with various types of Ghosh instruments being played. The Swayamsevaks, fully dressed in traditional Ganavesh, took part in this program.
The Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav Committee warmly welcomed the Swayamsevaks. The Vamsi (flute) performance by the Swayamsevaks particularly captivated everyone during the event.

This year, the Khairatabad Ganesh drew lakhs of devotees who visited the mandap daily, taking part in the 10-day festival filled with devotional fervor, prayers, and cultural events like Bhajans and folk performances.
The presence of the RSS Band Ghosh added a unique touch to the celebrations, drawing attention to the strong ties between tradition and national pride. This marks the third occasion where RSS Swayamsevaks have performed Ghosh at the iconic Khairatabad Ganesh.
The Ganesh idol, established back in 1954 by freedom fighter S. Sankarayya, has grown in significance over the decades, with his family and committee members carrying forward the tradition. The massive idol, known for its intricate design and giant laddu offering, stands as a symbol of community and faith.
The grand immersion ceremony on the 11th day in Hussain Sagar lake is set to culminate the festivities, ensuring the event remains an unforgettable experience for all who attended.
