Karnataka: PSI Parashuram’s suspicious death sparks political turmoil; MLA Chennareddy under scrutiny

The death of PSI Parashuram has ignited a political storm in Karnataka, with his family accusing Yadgir Congress MLA Chennareddy and his son of harassment leading to his death. A week has passed since the suspicious death of PSI Parashuram in Yadgir, a case that has sent shockwaves through the state’s political landscape. The incident has sparked a heated exchange of accusations between the ruling Congress and the opposition, further complicating an already tense situation. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has taken charge of the investigation, but the controversy continues to deepen as new details emerge.

PSI Parashuram’s family has pointed fingers at Yadgir Congress MLA Chennareddy and his son Pampanagowda, accusing them of being responsible for his untimely death. The family alleges that Parashuram was driven to despair by harassment from the MLA and his son, leading to his death. In the wake of these allegations, a formal complaint of caste abuse has been lodged against MLA Chennareddy and Pampanagowda at the Yadgir town Police Station, with the MLA being listed as the primary accused (A1).

Amid the growing controversy, MLA Chennareddy and his son have mysteriously gone missing. Their sudden disappearance has only fueled speculation and raised questions about their involvement in the case. Despite the serious allegations and the filed complaint, the police have yet to take concrete action against the MLA and his son, leading to public outcry and increasing pressure on law enforcement.

The situation escalated further when Parashuram’s wife, Shweta, publicly accused MLA Chennareddy and Pampanagowda of being directly responsible for her husband’s death. She claimed that the local police were initially reluctant to register her complaint, suggesting possible interference. However, as the case gained media attention and public scrutiny intensified, the complaint was eventually filed, prompting rumours that the MLA and his son had fled to Delhi.

Contrary to these rumours, sources have revealed that MLA Chennareddy and his son are actually in Bangalore. Reports indicate that MLA Chennareddy recently met with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru, where he provided a detailed account of the incident. Following this meeting, it is believed that the MLA will remain in the city as the investigation progresses.

Despite the severity of the allegations, no immediate action has been taken against MLA Chennareddy, raising questions about the handling of the case. While the police have registered a case of caste abuse against him, they have not yet called him in for questioning. According to police sources, they await the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report before summoning the MLA for interrogation.

The circumstances surrounding PSI Parashuram’s death are troubling. Less than a year ago, he was transferred to Yadgir Nagar Police Station, only to be moved again to Yadgir Cyber Crime Station after just seven months. It has been alleged that MLA Chennareddy demanded Rs 30 lakhs from PSI Parashuram to allow him to continue his previous position at Yadgir Nagar Police Station. The mental stress from this alleged harassment is believed to have contributed to Parashuram’s death. On the morning of August 2, Parashuram was found dead in his residence, with blood reportedly found near his nose and mouth, deepening the suspicions surrounding his death.

As the investigation continues, the case of PSI Parashuram’s death remains a focal point of controversy and tension in Karnataka’s political arena. The public and Parashuram’s family await the outcome of the CID’s investigation, hoping for justice and transparency in uncovering the truth behind this tragic incident.
