ABVP & DUSU file complaints against leftist students for spreading fake videos tarnishing ABVP’s image

A protest in Old Rajender Nagar seeking justice for the tragic drowning incident at Rao's IAS Coaching Institute has taken a contentious turn. Amidst the ongoing protest in Old Rajender Nagar, New Delhi seeking justice for the three students who lost their lives due to drowning in the overflowed rain water in the basement of Rao’s IAS Coaching Institute, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) filed a complaint against leftist organisations spreading fake videos falsely depicting ABVP members eating egg rolls, pastries etc, at the site of protest, on social media platforms like Telegram, Instragram etc. ABVP demands shutting down such groups on social media and taking strict actions under cybercrime laws against the perpetrators.

It is to be noted that ABVP organised a candle march on Sunday, in the old rajender nagar area in front of Rao’s IAS Coaching Institute seeking justice for the students who lost their lives in the Rao’s IAS Coaching Institute incident. Today, some individuals associated with leftist organisations started spreading some fake videos and photos in which some students are seen eating egg rolls, pastries etc at the site of protest falsely depicting them as ABVP members to tarnish the well respected image of ABVP. ABVP strongly condemns this effort of members of leftist organisations which reflects upon their malicious and low-minded tactics.

ABVP State Secretary, Harsh Attri, stated, “The death of the students due to drowning in the waterlogged basement of Rao’s IAS Coaching Institute in Old Rajender Nagar area is extremely tragic, and our sympathies are with the families of the deceased students. ABVP organised a protest and later, a candle march to seek justice for the deceased. However, the attempts of leftist organisations to maliciously spread fake videos falsely depicting ABVP members is entirely misleading and completely baseless. We have filed a complaint at the Maurice Nagar Police Station today, to demand identification of the individuals involved in this incident and take the strictest actions against the perpetrators.”

DUSU President Tushar Dedha and DUSU Secretary Aprajita, stated, “At the time when the entire nation is mourning the loss of the UPSC aspirants who lost their lives in the drowning incident at the Old Rajender Nagar, it is unforgivable that these leftist organisations are busy spreading fake videos showing some individuals eating food and consuming beverages at the protest site and falsely depicting them as ABVP members. The people shown in the video are actually members of the leftist organisation AISA, not ABVP and hence we have filed a complaint in this regard to demand strict actions against the perpetrators.”
