In an interesting revelation, it has been discovered that the Arabs acquired the term ‘Namas’ from the Sanskrit word ‘Namaskaram’. This intriguing information was not disclosed by any Hindu scholar or political figure, but rather by an Islamic scholar, Dr. Imam Umar Ahmed Illyas, Chief of the All India Imam Organisation.

It is noteworthy that this revelation comes from an Islamic scholar, rather than a Hindu scholar or any political figure. Dr. Illyas emphasizes that the term ‘Namas’ was not previously known to Arabs, challenging the belief that it derived from Urdu. Instead, he asserts that ‘Namas’ originated from the Sanskrit word ‘Nama:’, which translates to ‘respect the God’. In Arabic, the equivalent term used is ‘Salah’ for ‘Namaskar’.

To support his claims, Dr. Illyas has shared a video on his Instagram account called ‘Religion World’. It is worth mentioning that Dr. Illyas had attended the Pran Pratishta of the Ram temple in Ayodhya in January 2024. However, reports indicate that a ‘Fatwa’ had been issued against him for this gesture, highlighting the controversial nature of his statement.

The revelation of Sanskrit’s influence on Arabic further reinforces the notion that Sanskrit is considered the mother of all languages. Latin, often regarded as the mother of all European languages, has also borrowed numerous words from Sanskrit. Therefore, the revelations made by Dr. Imam Umar Ahmed Illyas come as no surprise, considering the linguistic interconnectedness found across different civilizations. This revelation not only highlights the historical connections between Sanskrit and Arabic but also emphasizes the power of language in fostering cultural exchange and understanding.

It is an undisputed fact that Sanskrit is the mother of all languages. Latin, considered to be the mother of all European languages,  appears to have borrowed several words from Sanskrit. Therefore, it is not a surprise to hear the revelations of Dr. Imam Umar Ahmed Illyas.
