Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has written a letter to the Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) demanding the reopening of the online application portal for UGC-NET (June 2024). The admissions in PhD programs in various universities are based on the scores of UGC-NET examinations, which many students could not apply for due to certain reasons.
It is to be noted that the UGC-NET examination held on June 18 was cancelled due to concerns over a possible paper leak and has been rescheduled to take place between August 21 and September 4, 2024. ABVP mentioned in its memorandum that many students were unaware that PhD admissions in many universities would be based on UGC-NET scores this time, making it reasonable to reopen the online application portal.
ABVP National General Secretary, Shri Yagywalkya Shukla, stated, “Reopening the online application portal will provide an opportunity to the students who were left out and couldn’t apply before. The UGC-NET examination should be held as scheduled, and the results should be announced in mission mode so that the admission procedure for PhD programs in various universities takes place as scheduled.”
