The Cyber-Crime wing of the Hyderabad police registered an FIR against a social media influencer Raushan Sinha a.k.a Sinha on June 2, based on a complaint lodged by advocate Eera Venkat Naik. The complaint alleges that the influencer, @MrSinha_, is spreading fake news linked to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s speech in Parliament on June 1st.

As per the contents of the complaint, the Cyber Crime case has been registered under U/Sec 3 52, 353(2), 353(1)(C) 336(4) BNS, and the case moved for further investigation.

The complainant Venkat Naik, in his complaint, mentions that “Yesterday i.e., on 01-07-2024 in the parliament session the Leader of Opposition Sri Rahul Gandhi said that The BJP people are not real Hindus and these BJP people are Violent” but this account holder modified that speech and created a fabricated post. According to that fabricated post Sri. Rahul Gandhi said, “those who are Hindus, are violent”. Sri Rahul Gandhi never gave wrong statements against the Hindus of this Nation but this BJP social media intentionally provocating Hindus for the 5 sake of their political gain. This post is being circulated in Twitter creating misappropriation in social media and violating law and order and peace.

These details were shared by the spokesperson of the Congress Party Sama Ram Mohan Reddy

My team has registered an FIR against @MrSinha_ working on the BJP payroll.

He circulated fake news misquoting our leader @RahulGandhi Ji after his speech in the Loksabha and appealed to people to share it widely to tarnish his image.

In May, in Congress government in Karnataka arrested another Social Media influencer named ‘Bhiku Mhatre’ (Twitter) in connection with the criticism of Congress Party Manifesto

Karnataka Police has arrested @MumbaichaDon from Goa. We are in touch with his family and will ensure he gets all legal support. Congress has unleashed anarchy and is intolerant of dissent. But there won’t be another #Emergency in this country, ever.

The filing of FIRs against social media influencers in the Congress-ruled states is a clear indication that they aim to threaten SM users who criticize Congress governance and its leaders.

Roushan Sinha speaking to Organiser said “These aggressive and legal actions are perceived as attempts to instill a constant fear of threats and harassment. By creating this environment of fear, the party aims to deter influencers from criticizing the government, leveraging the power of the law and the vast government machinery to silence any sort of Congress criticism.”
