In yet another case of an interfaith relationship where the man is a Muslim and the woman is a Hindu, met a similar fate. The Hindu woman and her family had to ultimately lodge a complaint against the accused, as he threatened to finish them off. The case is from Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh. The accused is identified as Arman Khan and is under arrest.
As per the reports, Arman abducted a woman identified as Shivani. She somehow managed to escape his captivity and reached her house. Irked by this act, Arman reached Shivani’s house and thrashed her father and beat him up with an iron rod, when her brothers joined in for help, he attacked them as well.
The Shivpuri police arrested Arman with a Zip gun on May 3.
As per the victim’s father Matadeen Joshi, Arman abducted Shivani almost 15 days ago after luring her in his fake trap. Knowing his true identity and nefarious agenda, Shivani managed to escape from his captivity and reach her parent’s house. On May 2, around 9:30 at night, Arman reached Shivani’s house and attacked her father with an iron rod.
He did not stop here, as when Shivani’s brothers joined their father to resist Aramn, he thrashed them as well. He also pointed a zip gun at them and threatened to finish everything.
When Arman abducted Shivani, Matadeen registered a case against him. Following this attack, they informed the police after which the officers booked Arman and seized the gun from him.
It is pertinent to mention that, back in January 2023, an FIR (number 25/2023) was registered against Arman Khan at the Kolaras police station of the district. Khan was accused of abducting a minor Hindu girl. He was booked under IPC section 363 (kidnapping). A wanted notice in the same case was issued by the Shivpuri police in the matter.
Organiser called up the Town Inspector (TI), Rohit Dubey, to inquire about the matter. Dubey, however, was busy with election duty as the polling is around in Shivpuri and hence could not provide much detail. We will update the story as soon as we have any information.
On May 2, a similar case (FIR number: 213/2024) was registered at the Mangawan police station of the Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh. The accused, Mohammad Abdul, abducted a Hindu woman and held her hostage. He was planning to get her converted to Islam and have nikah. But on May 4, the police arrested him.
A spate of such cases are being registered from different parts of the country. It is no longer an issue to be tackled by law, awareness on personal and community levels is important.
