In a harrowing tale of alleged forced conversion and physical abuse, a 20-year-old Hindu woman from Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district has come forward with her ordeal. Ayesha fell victim to regular assaults perpetrated by a Muslim man named Mubarak, following a nikah (Islamic marriage) ceremony.

The distressing incident unfolded within the jurisdiction of Deeg’s Kaithwada police station in the Mewat region of Rajasthan.

According to media reports, the victim, who was pursuing GNM training at Yatharth Hospital in Noida’s Sector 110, was lured into a friendship with Mubarak via Facebook. Mubarak, a resident of Jhenjhpuri village in Deeg, reportedly ensnared the victim in his trap.

On September 1, 2023, the accused took the victim to an acquaintance’s residence in Bela village, located within the Sikri police station area. There, he detained the victim for ten days before formalising their relationship through a nikah ceremony, renaming her Ayesha in the process.

Subsequently, the victim was taken to Mubarak’s family home in Jhenjhpuri village, where she endured relentless abuse at the hands of the accused and his relatives.

Reports suggest that the victim was coerced into leaving her Hindu beliefs, compelling her to exclusively engage in Islamic rituals such as offering namaz and consuming non-vegetarian food including beef.

Furthermore, the victim endured physical assault when she resisted adhering to these demands, including being forced to keep roza during Ramadan.

Isolated from the outside world and devoid of means of communication, the victim suffered in silence until an opportunity arose for her to seize Mubarak’s phone and reach out to her family.

Upon learning of their daughter’s distressing situation, the victim’s family promptly travelled to Jhenjhpuri village to effect her rescue.

However, their efforts were met with resistance from the accused, who refused to release the victim.

With the gravity of the situation escalating, the victim’s family sought assistance from the authorities, prompting their approach to the Kaman police station.

Subsequently, both the victim and the accused were brought in for questioning, during which the severity of the victim’s injuries came to light, shocking her family.

Despite the egregious allegations levelled against him, reports indicate that no formal complaint was lodged against Mubarak, who was subsequently released following police interrogation.

Additionally, it has been alleged that the accused thwarted the victim’s educational pursuits in Noida.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage and reignited debates surrounding religious conversions and violence against women.

Calls for justice have amplified as concerned citizens demand accountability for the alleged perpetrator and justice for the victim, whose traumatic ordeal serves as a grim reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by individuals in such circumstances.
