Congress MP Anto Antony insulted the country’s soldiers in his attempt to attack the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He follows in the footsteps of Rahul Gandhi and Left parties in alleging that the Modi regime engineered the Pulwama explosion to win the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Anto Antony raked up the Pulwama issue, on March 13, levelling allegations against BJP. He reportedly said that BJP won the victory in 2019 Lok Sabha elections exploiting the sacrifices of soldiers. He was addressing a press meeting.

BJP has demanded legal litigation against Anto Antony as the MP’s words appear to be anti-national. Anto Antony said that BJP won the (2019) elections by sacrificing 42 jawans. He was referring to the incident of February 14, 2019. He alleged that this time, they (BJP) used the Citizenship (Amendment) Act as an election plank.

Anto Antony is the Congress candidate for the Pathanamthitta Lok Sabha seat which he has been representing since 2014. This time, Anto Antony finds a great threat in BJP candidate Anil Antony, the son of Congress veteran A K Antony, three-time Chief Minister and former Defence Minister. Anil, BJP national secretary, left Congress recently and joined BJP. His comment came just before PM Modi addressed a mammoth election rally of Anil Antony.

Anto Antony wondered, before the media men, what involvement Pakistan had in the Pulwama blasts. The BJP president attacked Anto Antony for his insulting comments about the country. He should be charged with sedition and arrested. K Surendran asked whom Anto Antony was supporting with his derogatory statement. This sort of disrespect towards the army can demoralise them. He hoped the voters would teach Anto Antony a lesson through their franchise.
