Tensions flared in Ektanagar on Ajwa Road, Vadodara, on the night of Wednesday, March 13, as clashes erupted between Hindu and Muslim groups, resulting in injuries to several individuals. The conflict stemmed from an altercation sparked by objections raised by a Muslim mob regarding the playing of the Hanuman Chalisa on loudspeakers at the Hanumanji temple in the area.

According to eyewitness accounts, the situation escalated around 7:30 pm when a group of Muslims arrived at the temple to voice their disapproval of the religious chants being broadcasted. A heated exchange ensued between the two communities, culminating in stone-pelting and acts of vandalism allegedly perpetrated by the Muslim mob.

Two teenagers, identified as Harish Sarnia and Deepak Sarnia, who were present at the temple initially, found themselves embroiled in the altercation with members of the Muslim community, including Raheel Sheikh.
