In a significant development in Hyderabad, an FIR has been lodged against Ahmed Bin Abdulla Balala, an MLA representing the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) from the Malakpet Constituency, along with senior Telangana High Court advocate Vedula Venkataramana and Jai Kumar. The complaint, filed at the IS Sadan Police Station on January 25, accuses them of engaging in threatening behaviour in connection with a contentious land dispute case.

According to the complainant, Dr Yadagiri, a member of the Scheduled Caste (SC) community, his family and community members acquired land in Bowrampet village in 1982 through an unregistered sale deed. Despite possessing the land for decades, they faced legal challenges from unauthorized individuals supported by former landholders and opportunistic elements, who sought to seize possession based on fraudulent documents.

Seeking legal assistance, Yadagiri enlisted the services of advocate Vedula Venkataramana in 2005. However, despite promising favourable outcomes in all court cases, Venkataramana allegedly demanded a hefty fee of Rs. 30,00,000/-, assuring victory. Subsequently, he began missing court dates and sending less experienced lawyers in his place. Despite assurances to rectify the situation, Venkataramana allegedly continued to neglect the case, eventually demanding a substantial sum of Rs. 10 crores to influence the judiciary in their favour.

As the complainant failed to secure a favourable judgment, Venkataramana allegedly doubled his demand to Rs. 7 crores, resorting to threats, harassment, and intimidation when confronted. The situation escalated, with Venkataramana allegedly mentioning hired killers if a complaint was lodged against him. Furthermore, the complaint implicates AIMIM MLA Balala in collaborating with Venkataramana to incite intimidation and threats.

Expressing concerns for his safety and that of his community, the complainant asserts that unknown individuals have been surveilling him regularly. He urges immediate police intervention to safeguard his life, belongings, and the interests of the SC community.

This accusation against Balala is not the first controversy surrounding the AIMIM MLA. In 2020, Shruthi Bangaru, BJP State General Secretary of Telangana, sought Balala’s arrest under the provisions of the SC/ST Act for allegedly making derogatory remarks against her, highlighting his history of resorting to strong-arm tactics against opponents.

The FIR marks a significant development in the ongoing dispute, underscoring the complexities and tensions surrounding land disputes and political involvement in Hyderabad. Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations to ensure justice is served.
