In the wake of the historic inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has unveiled an ambitious initiative aimed at promoting religious tourism. The newly launched Ramayana Circuit Tourist Train promises to take travellers on a spiritual journey across various destinations of immense significance as depicted in the ancient Indian epic, the Ramayana.
The inaugural tour of this unique pilgrimage experience commenced on February 4, marking the beginning of a 19-day expedition that promises to immerse participants in the rich tapestry of culture and history. The tour, meticulously crafted by IRCTC officials, covers an extensive array of sites sacred to the Ramayana narrative.
A group of 122 enthusiastic tourists hailing from the United Kingdom, Portugal, and India have embarked on this remarkable journey, eagerly anticipating the exploration of renowned landmarks such as the revered Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya, the Bharat-Hanuman Temple in Nandigram, and the Janaki Mandir in Nepal’s Janakpur.
The meticulously curated itinerary also includes visits to Punaura Dham in Sitamarhi, the Rameshwar Nath Temple in Buxar, and the Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, among numerous other sacred sites scattered across the circuit. From the tranquil banks of the Ganga-Yamuna sangam in Prayagraj to the mystic environs of Hampi’s Anjanadri Hill, participants are promised an enriching spiritual odyssey like no other.
Speaking on the initiative, an IRCTC official highlighted the customizable nature of these tours, emphasising that they are organised upon special request by groups of tourists. This tailored approach ensures that participants can immerse themselves fully in the religious and cultural heritage of the destinations they visit, fostering a deeper sense of connection and understanding.
The Ramayana Circuit Tourist Train offers a range of accommodation options to suit the preferences and budgets of travellers. From triple and double occupancy cabins to deluxe AC coupe accommodations, passengers are provided with comfortable lodging throughout the duration of the journey. The package prices, ranging from Rs 1.49 lakhs to Rs 1.86 lakhs per passenger, are inclusive of train travel, night stays, vegetarian meals both onboard and off-board, transfers, sightseeing, and comprehensive travel insurance coverage, ensuring peace of mind for all participants.
With its seamless blend of spirituality, history, and cultural immersion, the Ramayana Circuit Tourist Train emerges as a beacon of hope for the revival of religious tourism in India. As travellers embark on this transformative voyage, they not only pay homage to ancient legends but also contribute to the economic revitalization of the regions they traverse. Through initiatives such as this, IRCTC continues to play a pivotal role in promoting India’s rich cultural heritage on the global stage, inviting travellers from far and wide to partake in the timeless journey of discovery and enlightenment.
As the inaugural tour sets forth from New Delhi, the Ramayana Circuit Tourist Train stands poised to chart a new course in the annals of religious pilgrimage, beckoning adventurers to embark on a voyage of spiritual awakening and cultural immersion like never before.
