Chhattisgarh: 17 BSF personnel injured after their vehicle looses control in Kanker, 4 referred to Raipur

As many as 17 personnel of Border Security Force (BSF) are reported to be injured after the vehicle carrying the Jawans met with an accident in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh on Friday, January 05.

According to the reports, the accident occurred when the personnel were heading to their homes for vacation when the steering of the vehicle carrying them suddenly stopped working, leading to an accident near Kumhari village under Rawaghat police station limits of Kanker.

The fateful development occured in the bordering area of Kanker and Narayanpur district on Friday afternoon following which the personnel were immediately rushed to the Narayanpur district hospital.

It’s been learnt that around 4 to 5 personnel have sustained serious injuries who have been referred to Raipur after getting primary treatment at Narayanpur. The other personnel are reported to be fine after receiving treatment at Narayanpur district hospital.

The injured personnel were all deployed in the insurgency-hit regions of Kanker and reportedly belongs to 162nd battalion of the BSF.

It is to be noted that many units of paramilitary forces including of the BSF have been deployed in the Maoist infested regions of the Chhattisgarh and adjoining insurgency-hit States like Jharkhand and Odisha.

Deployed in the core Maoist Zones, the personnel of the paramilitary forces have so far turned out to be a significant contributor in the war against the left wing insurgents.
