As preparations are in full swing for the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, BJP MLA Yashpal Suvarna on January 1, wrote to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramiah requesting him to declare January 22 as a holiday.

The consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir will be held on January 22.

In his letter to the Chief Minister, Suvarna wrote, “There will be an opportunity to participate in various religious events. The youth need to know the history of the Ram Janmabhoomi struggle. Young people should participate in puja and bhajan programs. We appealed to him as Chief Minister. He said it is up to them whether they give leave or not.”

“India is a Hindu nation, there are six and a half crore Hindus in the State. Do not play with the feelings of the people of the State. It is better to accept the request and declare leave.

Otherwise, leave arrangements have to be made locally. Siddaramaiah knows what is right and what is wrong. Siddaramaiah is on the verge of retirement. Wish him a happy retirement,” added the letter.

The consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir will be held on January 22, which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with other prominent personalities.

Meanwhile, Shri Ram Mandir Construction Committee Chairman Nripendra Misra on December 28, took stock of the ongoing construction work on the Ram Janmabhoomi Path and the complex along with the top district official. The inspection came ahead of the consecration ceremony, scheduled for next month, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Mandir city on December 30.

“The work is not being done hastily, rather it is being done qualitatively by investing enough time into it,” Misra said while speaking to media.

As per Mandir officials, the consecration ceremony will be held over a span of seven days, starting on January 16. On the final day, January 22, after the morning puja, the deity of Ram Lala will be consecrated in ‘Mrigashira Nakshatra’ in the afternoon.
