Jharkhand: Security forces nab sub zonal commander of TSPC in Latehar

The security forces in a major operation nabbed a seasoned Maoist of the proscribed Tritiye Prastuti Sammelan Committee (TSPC) from Hesabaar Bhaang forest region under the Latehar district of Jharkhand on Tuesday, December 26. According to the reports, the arrested cadres of the banned outfit have been identified as Sahdev Ganjhu aka Raushan aka Abhishek, sub-zonal commander of the outlawed TSPC.

The security forces also seized a pistol and live cartridges from the possession of the accused. It’s been reported that the forces launched the operation in the Maoist-infested Balumaath police station limits of Latehar upon receiving specific inputs during which Ganjhu was nabbed.

Briefing the media, the Latehar police disclosed that the arrested extremist was also a spokesperson of the TSPC and was currently taking instructions from Aakraman Ji, another commander of the TSPC. Ganjhu has been named in as many as 20 cases and the police team has also seized literature from the possession of the accused. The arrest of Ganjhu has been come as a setback for the banned TSPC in the region, informed an official of the Latehar police.

JJMP area commander held

It is worth mentioning here that the arrest of Ganjhu occurred days after the Jharkhand police, in another operation, held another seasoned Maoist of the banned Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP), a splinter group of the proscribed Communist Party of India (Maoist) from Garhwa district, on Saturday, December 23.

The Garhwa police, in an operation, had nabbed Manoj Ram alias Manoj Kumar a cadre of the JJMP and recovered a Insas rifle, 04 pieces of 315 bore rifles along with a huge cache of ammunition. It’s been learnt that Manoj Kumar was a part of the group led by area commander Tunesh Oraon and was also involved in the encounter broke out between the forces and the Maoist on 17th of this month.

It is to be noted that the Jharkhand police have been running counter-insurgency drives aimed at eradicating the left-wing insurgents from the State. The operation launched in several regions of the mineral-rich State have led to the arrest, surrender and neutralisation of various notable Maoist commander including the members of the Central Committee of the outlawed CPI Maoist and People’s Liberation Guerilla Army (PLFI) self-styled supremo Dinesh Gope.

Additionally, the security forces have been running continuous combing operations to detect and unearth Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) from the Maoist-affected regions of the state as well.

Recently, in another such operation launched in the core Maoist zone of Goilkera police station, a joint team of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Jharkhand Jaguar (JJ), Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) recovered and destroyed an IED weighing 04 kg.

The operation was launched in the same region where the Maoists had uprooted a railway track during their nationwide shutdown call against persistent counter-insurgency drives in the State of Jharkhand on December 22.
