In an address during the culmination of the golden jubilee celebrations of Kalyan Janata Sahakari Bank in Maharashtra’s Thane district, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat underscored the pivotal role that banks play in recognizing and addressing the needs of the underprivileged for their financial development. The event, which marked a milestone for the cooperative bank, saw Bhagwat emphasising the broader mission of financial institutions, particularly their duty towards the empowerment of weaker segments in society.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Bhagwat articulated the view that a bank’s success is inherently tied to the financial prosperity of its weaker sections. He stressed the importance of banks prioritising social development alongside adhering to fundamental economic norms. “The financial prosperity of the weaker sections is the foundation of banks. Banks should give priority to social development while maintaining all economic parameters,” affirmed RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat.

The occasion also witnessed Bhagwat extending his congratulations to Kalyan Janata Sahakari Bank on achieving its golden jubilee, acknowledging the bank’s significant responsibility in shaping its future trajectory. Reflecting on the beginning of the celebrations in the presence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari the previous year, Bhagwat noted it as a turning point in the development and expansion of the bank, signifying greater responsibilities ahead.

During his address, RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat reiterated the responsibility of banks in identifying the needs of weaker sections and providing them with opportunities for empowerment. He emphasised that the golden jubilee year of Kalyan Janata Sahakari Bank aligns with an increased responsibility to ensure the organisation operates more dynamically in the future.

This stance aligns with Dr Bhagwat’s recent statements regarding the necessity of financial resources for societal progress. At a separate event commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission in Nagpur, where a heart hospital was inaugurated, Bhagwat had expressed his willingness to solicit donations for the improvement of society without any hesitation.

“There should be no shame in soliciting donations for the improvement of society. I will never hesitate to beg for contributions for the greater good,” declared RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat, highlighting the crucial role of generous donations in supporting noble causes.

The remarks made by Bhagwat underscore a broader vision that transcends traditional banking functions, emphasising the symbiotic relationship between financial institutions and societal progress. His emphasis on social development alongside economic parameters reflects a holistic approach to banking, where the upliftment of weaker sections becomes integral to the mission and success of banks.

As Kalyan Janata Sahakari Bank reflects on its 50-year journey, it is clear that RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat envisions a future where financial institutions actively contribute to social empowerment, laying the groundwork for a more inclusive and dynamic society.
