In its effort to dismantle the terror network established by the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist), the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday, December 18 chargesheeted two more accused in CPI Maoist terror financing network case pertaining to revival of Maoist related activities in Magadh region of Bihar, informed NIA in a press release on Tuesday, December 19.

In the second supplementary chargesheet filed before the special NIA’s court in Ranchi, the accused Vijay Arya alias DIlip, Central Committee (CC) member of the CPI Maoist and Ananad Paswan alias Anandi Paswan, both residents of Bihar are charged under section 120(b) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Additionally, the federal agency has also slapped Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) against both the accused

The case pertains to the terror financing network of the proscribed CPI Maoist which was being operated by the cadres and Over Ground Workers (OWG) of the terror outfit in the Magadh region of Bihar. Earlier the NIA had also chargesheeted Tarun Kumar, Pradyuman Sharma and Abhinav Kumar alias Gaurav the other three accused arrested in connection with the case so far.

According to the NIA’s investigation, all of the accused were involved in collecting funds for procurement of arms and ammunition and for recruitment of new cadres with the help of the OWG and other cadres of the banned group lodged in jails.

The Investigation has so far revealed that the CC member, Vijay Arya was operating as a bridge between the OWG workers and other stake holders of the banned Maoist outfit in Jharkhand and Bihar. Arya was also found involved in motivating the ex-cadres of the extremist group to further expand the footprints of the terror group in Magadh region of Bihar.

It is to be noted that the prime accused Pradyuman Sharma and Tarun Kumar were arrested by the security agencies in August 2021. The case was suo moto registered by the NIA in December 30, 2021.

It is worth mentioning here that apart from speeding up the ongoing legal procedure against the accused nabbed by NIA in cases related to the Maoist outfit, the federal investigative agency has also been conducting continuous raids on hideouts of the suspects and others wanted accused related to Left Wing Extremism (LWE).

Recently, the agency in a massive crackdown conducted raids on more than 20 locations across four states linked to the Jharkhand based banned outfit Peoples Liberation Front of India (PLFI), a splinter group of the outlawed Communist party of India (Maoist), active mainly in Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh on Friday, December 15.

The raids were conducted in connection with the PLFI’s extortion and levy case where the sleuths of the agency also arrested two cadres/symapthisers of the PLFI alongside seizing two pistols, live cartridges of 7.86 mm, incriminating materials including digital devices such as pen drives, mobile phones, SIM cards and DVR along with Rs3 lakhs in cash.
