On November 28, NDTV conducted a fact-check on Supriya Shrinate, Congress’s chairperson of Social Media and Digital Platforms, refuting her claim about NDTV conducting a poll for the Telangana elections. On X (formerly Twitter), NDTV clarified, ” #FakeNewsAlert | NDTV has not conducted any poll of polls for #Telangana2023. Please refrain from spreading false information,” and tagged Supriya Shrinate in the post.

This fact-check was prompted by Supriya Shrinate’s assertions made on X on November 27. In a post, Shrinate claimed, “NDTV Poll of Polls confirms what we see on the ground in Telangana. Congress is all set to record a historic win!” accompanying her statement with purported poll numbers.

In the upcoming Telangana Assembly Elections, scheduled for November 30, voters in the state will cast their ballots to determine the political landscape for the next term. The results of the elections, along with those of Mizoram, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, will be announced on December 3.

While Assembly elections have concluded in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh, Telangana remains the sole state with pending elections. The conclusion of a vibrant and spirited campaign season is set for November 28, at 5 PM.

Led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR), the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is fervently seeking a mandate for a third consecutive term. In opposition, the Congress party has mounted a robust campaign, aiming to stage a comeback in Telangana’s political landscape.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has entered the electoral arena with a determined stance, deploying national-level leaders in an effort to impact Telangana’s political dynamics. Key figures such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh have been prominent in BJP’s campaign activities in the state. As the campaign period draws to a close, the political landscape in Telangana is poised for a decisive turn with voters heading to the polls on November 30.
