Assam: Minor tribal girl drugged and raped; Accused Anwar Hussain arrested by police

A minor tribal girl was raped in Kokrajhar town. The victim, a 16-year-old girl, was drugged by accused Anwar Hussain while she was alone at home and then brutally raped while she was intoxicated.

Kokrajhar: Yet another shameful incident jolted Assam on October 29. According to the report, rapist Anwar Hussain was working in a construction site as a helper near the victim’s house. On Sunday evening, when the victim was alone at home, the accused, Anwar came and somehow drugged her without her knowledge.

Immediately, the minor victim became unconscious, and Anwar brutally raped her. The victim’s family learned about the incident when they returned home and found the victim in a semi-conscious stage. They immediately informed the police, and a FIR was lodged in the Kokrajhar police station. Meanwhile, police nabbed the accused, and he was identified as Anowar Hussain of Badiaguri village in the same district. A case (363/376(3)/328 under IPC and R/W 6 of POCSO Act has been registered in Kokrajhar police station.

Police took the minor victim to hospital for medical checkup and doctors have confirmed that she was sexually assaulted and raped. Doctor’s also confirmed that the victim was drugged before she was assaulted.

Accused Anwar Hussain on the other hand, has been admitted to a local hospital in Kokrajhar after he complained about some health issues. However, doctors in the hospital said that the accused, Anwar, has not any major physical issues and he is likely to be discharged from hospital soon. Police said that they will take the accused in custody once he is discharged from hospital for further investigation.

It should be mentioned that on May 16 this year, a 13-year minor Hindu girl was abducted and raped in a moving vehicle by four Muslim men in the Kokrajhar district.The incident took place on May 16 evening when four Muslim men, namely Rubel Rahman (19), Imran Hussain(19), Mamunur Rahman(24) and Anowar Hussain(20), abducted the 13 years old girl in a vehicle and raped her while driving it on National Highway 31. As per the report, the four criminals forcefully took the minor girl inside a moving car near Dotma town while she was returning from the market. The four criminals gang-raped raped her inside the moving vehicle while roaming almost 13 kilometres on National Highway 31.
