On October 30, 2023, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) carried out on military infrastructure inside Syria. They also released footage of the airstrikes. The IDF said that it was responding to multiple rockets launches from Syria. The military said “A short time ago, an IDF Fighter Jet attacked the launchers were made last night from Syrian territories towards Israeli territory,”

About the Strikes

The IDF earlier said that it had shelled the source of the launches in an intermediate reaction to rocket fire which occurred at 9:45 pm, local time. The military or any other officials have not provided details, but according to the Israeli broadcaster news agency, the strikes took place near Daraa. All of the projectiles launched from Syria landed in open areas causing no damage or injuries, the IDF said.

Calls for Ceasefire

Experts all over the world have expressed concerns amid escalating tensions in the region due to the ongoing escalating tensions between Israel and Hamas in Gaza Strip.

Calls have been made about the ceasefire amid mounting concerns about the risk of a wider West Asian conflict after the US dispatched more military assets to the region. Israel has plummeted targets in Gaza and Hamas supporters in Syria and Lebanon.

Israel’s Military Operations

Meanwhile the Israeli Air Force, continued its late-night operation targeted at Hezbollah inside Lebanon. The IDF said that an Air Force aircraft attacked the targets of thr terrorist organisation in Lebanese territory in response to rocket launches towards the territory of Israel, Among the targets that were attacked were infrastructure for directing terrorism and military infrastructures of the organisation.

Amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Hamas, the Israeli ground forces continue to operate in the northern section of the Gaza Strip killing Hamas terrorists and destroying the facilities of the terror group, an Israeli media agency said.

According to the IDF, its troops killed a number of Hamas gunmen who opened fire on the ground forces in Gaza as well as other terrorists identified on a beach in Gaza near the southern Israeli village of Zikim, Ground soldiers including tanks hit anti-tank missile positions, observation posts and other Hamas infrastructure, the Israeli media agency said.

Jordan’s Request to US

Jordan, which is a staunch American ally asked Washington to deploy Patriot air defence systems to bolster its border defence at a time of heightened tensions and conflict. Brigadier General Mustafa Hiyari, the spokesperson of the Jordanian army said told the state television on October 29, 2023, “We asked the Americans side to help bolster our defence system with Patriot Missiles.

The US Patriot Missiles were stationed in the kingdom in 2013 following an uprising by the northern neighbour Syria where the kingdom feared a civil war could spill over and ignite a regional conflict in West Asia. The Patriot Missiles are considered the best and advanced air defence systems. The system is usually in short supply and all its allies around the world ask for it. Officials in Jordan have said that Jordan has been increasingly nervous about Israels bombing of the Gaza Strip since a deadly assault was launched on Israel by Hamas on October 7, 2023. It could be spread into wider conflagration.
