Under the guidance of CM Yogi, a grand ‘Shakti Vandan’ ceremony was organised by the district administration in the Shaheed Azam Bhagat Singh College campus of Gonda. Mission Shakti Cafe and Mission Shakti Wall, symbols of women’s self-reliance and motherly power, were also inaugurated in the ceremony.

During this, another milestone was established in the direction of the Chief Minister’s Mission Shakti Abhiyan by performing Kanya Puja of 11,880 daughters of different sections from different development blocks of the district.

To make this country’s biggest Kanya Puja program, ‘Shakti Vandan’ grand, a target was set to organise Kanya Puja of 11,000 daughters. But, as a result of the efforts of the district administration, 11,888 girls were worshipped beyond the target.

District Basic Education Officer Prem Chandra Yadav informed that the girls included 2550 from Jhanjhari block, 1100 from Pandari Kripal, 1300 from Haldharmau, 1120 from Katra Bazaar, 1650 from Mujehna, 590 from Mankapur, 580 from Wazirganj, 560 from Nawabganj, 592 from Paraspur, Colonelganj. As many as 570 daughters, 583 from Belsar, 575 from Tarabganj, 565 from Rupaidih and 596 daughters from Itiyathok participated in this function.

On this occasion, nine women of the district who have done excellent work in various fields were also honoured with the Navdevi Award. The speciality of the entire program was that it was organised as a zero-waste event. The children won the hearts of the audience through the colourful cultural program presented during the program.
Sanitation kits and nutrition bundles were distributed along with the worship of the girls who came from different blocks of the district.

On this occasion, Divisional Commissioner of Devipatan Division Yogeshwar Ram Mishra, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Devipatan Range, Amarendra Pratap Singh, District Magistrate Neha Sharma, Superintendent of Police Ankit Mittal, Chief Development Officer M. Arunmoli and other senior officers were present.

The chief guest of the function, Cabinet Minister Women and Child Development Baby Rani Maurya inaugurated Mission Shakti Cafe and Mission Shakti Wall. Mission Shakti Cafe has been established in Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri College. This is the first Mission Shakti Cafe in the state and is being run by women of self-help groups.

Additionally, the women who raised the prestige of India in the country and the world through Mission Shakti Wall were honoured in a new way by the district administration. Built with the message of Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, this wall is dedicated to the women of the country who have excelled in different fields in the country and the world.

Nine ‘Matri Shaktis’ of the district were also honoured for their excellent work in the Shakti Vandan ceremony.
Among those honoured included Police Department area officer Sadar Shilpa Verma, Annu Singh of Revenue Department, Shailbala Singh of the Justice Department, Urmila Gupta from Industry, Sunit Maurya (ASHA) from the Health Department, Rekha Singh, village head of Bhagharia Puremitai, BC Sandhya Devi, Vandan Mishra, assistant teacher of Composite School-Pathwalia Jhanjri, Sushila, Anganwadi worker of Development Block- Mujehna. They were honoured with certificates and mementoes.

Zero waste event was also a major achievement of this grand ceremony of Kanya Puja. During this entire event, 138 kg of wet waste and about 70 kg of dry waste were generated. Its complete disposal was ensured. A compost pit was prepared at the programme level for the disposal of wet waste. This garbage is being converted into fertiliser.

Executive Officer Sanjay Mishra said that the dry garbage has also been divided into four parts. This includes glass, plastic bottles, paper waste and polythene. Their segregation was ensured at the event venue itself. This segregated waste has been sent to the dry waste unit.
